Maggie Holt Picks Up Defensive Player / Rookie of the Week

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (May 1, 2023) – First Year midfielder Maggie Holt collected Defensive Player of the Week / Rookie of the Week after filling the stat sheet on both the offensive and defensive ends for the Golden Bears in their 21-3 win over Nichols College.

In the win over the Bison, the Cumberland Foreside, Maine native caused one turnover while scooping five ground balls and grabbed six successful draw controls for WNE to earn Defensive Player of the Week accolades. 

Holt also earned the Rookie of the Week accolades after scoring a goal and picking up three assists for the Golden Bears in the win. Holt matched a career best with four points in the game while taking three shots, all on goal. 

Through 18 games played this season, Holt has scored 20 goals and picked up 13 assists, good for 33 career points. The First Year scooped 25 ground balls on the year while possessing 83 draw controls and causing 12 turnovers. 

The number three seeded Golden Bears defeated number six Curry College to advance to the CCC Semifinals, which will be held on Wednesday, May 3 at 6:00 against the number two seeded Hawks of Roger Williams University.
