Hill, Vitka Named to IWLCA Senior All-Star Game

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (May 22, 2023) – Western New England women's lacrosse senior Ally Hill and graduate student Samantha Vitka have been selected to play in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association's (IWLCA) Senior All-Star game. The event will take place on Saturday, June 3 at 12:15 PM. 

Hill put together another outstanding season both on the offensive and defensive ends of the field. The Storrs, Connecticut native played in 18 games for the Golden Bears on the season, making all 18 starts. Hill scored 11 goals on the season, a career high, while also producing a career high in assists on the season with four, totaling 15 points on the year.  On the defensive side of the ball, Hill collected 42 ground balls and caused 11 turnovers for Western New England. Additionally, Hill won 27 draw controls and took 26 shots, placing 20 on goal, both career high numbers. The senior was named to the All-CCC First Team for the second time in her career following the conclusion of the season. 

Samantha Vitka wrapped her successful career with Western New England this season by reaching career highs in multiple offensive statistical categories. The Stratford, Connecticut native played in 19 games for the Golden Bears on the season, marking her second straight season with 19 games played and 19 starts. Vitka scored 42 times this season for Western New England while also picking up a career high 27 assists, good for 69 points on the season, a team best. Vitka was lights out in the faceoff circle, winning 143 draw controls on the season for the Golden Bears, which now ranks fourth all time in a single season in WNE women's lacrosse history. Vitka produced on the defensive end for Western New England, causing 14 turnovers and scooping 29 ground balls on the year. 

Hill and Vitka are the first pair of Golden Bears to be named to the IWLCA Senior All-Star game in the same season. Previously, former Golden Bears Taylor Scialdone '16 and Jessica Scannapieco '15 participated in the event during their respective senior seasons. 

The game will be played at Tierney Field at US Lacrosse Headquarters in Sparks, Maryland.
