Amherst blanks Western New England College in non-conference meeting

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Amherst women's volleyball team ran its winning streak to eight matches with a 3-0 victory over Western New England College in a non-league meeting Wednesday night (Oct. 6) at the Alumni Healthful Living Center. The game scores were 25-14, 25-19, and 25-23.

The Lord Jeffs are now 11-1 while the Golden bears fall to 8-11.

Junior outside hitters Cristy Meier (San Anselmo, CA) and Katherine Kanoff (Pacific Palisades, CA) led the visitors with 10 and eight kills, respectively. Senior middle hitter Laura Hyman (Glencoe, IL) added six kills.

Sophomore setter Callie Nelson (Escondido, CA) contributed 30 assists while senior defensive specialist Rachel Yorke (Los Angeles, CA) chipped-in with 28 digs.

Western New England College senior middle blocker Lauren Landri (New Canaan, CT) had a team high nine kills. Junior middle blocker Kristen Jordan (Sherman, CT) had a nice outing with four kills and four blocks.

Also for the Golden Bears, senior libero Marci Egbert (Wayne, NJ) and sophomore outside hitter Jennifer Mears (Amherst, MA) each had 11 digs. Senior setter Katharina Boes (Buffalo Grove, IL) dished out 27 assists.
