Service & Grennan Join WNE Football Coaching Staff

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (June 14, 2018) – Western New England University head football coach Jason Lebeau '10/'16 announced on Thursday that Anthony Service '18 and James Grennan will join the coaching staff for the 2018 season.

Service will coach wide receivers, while Grennan will work with outside linebackers.

Service, a record-breaking quarterback during his four-year career as a Golden Bear, graduated from Western New England in May with a Sport Management degree.

The Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y. native was a two-year starter and two-time All-Conference performer, garnering CCC Football Offensive Player of the Year accolades as a senior last fall. Service was also named to the New England Football Writers Association All-New England Team as a junior in 2016. He is the Golden Bears' all-time leader in passing touchdowns with 47.

Grennan comes to Western New England following a four-year career at the College of Brockport, a Division III program that competes in the Empire 8 Conference. The Warwick, N.Y. native graduated in May with a Sport Management degree.

Last fall, Grennan was a first team All-Empire 8 selection and two-time D3football.com Team of the Week recipient for a Golden Eagles squad that advanced all the way to the NCAA Tournament semifinals before falling to No. 1 ranked Mary Hardin-Baylor. Academically, he was a three-time Dean's List student and an Empire 8 President's List honoree as a junior in 2016.

Coming off three consecutive conference championships, Western New England will open its 2018 campaign on the road at Springfield College on Friday, August 31 at 7 p.m. as the crosstown rivals face off in the Sixth Annual Pynchon SAW Game.
