WNE Football to Support Ben’s 3rd Annual Toy Drive on Saturday

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (September 20, 2018) – The Western New England University football team will support 'Ben's 3rd Annual Toy Drive' before, during and after the Golden Bears' non-conference finale against Anna Maria College on Saturday at 1 p.m.

The toy drive, which was started by the football program's Team IMPACT teammate Ben Manzi, benefits kids currently receiving care at Baystate Children's Hospital in Springfield. It is being organized by Team BAM! For Ben, which puts together fundraisers and drives that benefit local children that have cancer, and supports further research on childhood leukemia.

Ben has been receiving treatment for leukemia for the past three years, after being diagnosed at the age of six. He started the toy drive to help other kids at the hospital feel better.

The drive will collect toys and games, books, arts & crafts, and gift cards. To donate or host a toy bin, search 'teamBAMforBen' on Facebook, or email 'teambamforben@gmail.com'. Items will be collected through September 30, 2018.

On Saturday, the donation drop-off location will be located at the picnic grove closest to Golden Bear Stadium. There will be a table set up to accept donations pre-game, during half time, and post-game.

If you plan on donating, please remember:
• all items must be new
• the hospital cannot accept plush or fabric items
• donations are needed for ages infant through adolescent
