Alec Coleman Earns First CCC Football Offensive Player of the Week Award

Arlington, Mass. native threw for 179 yards and 3 TDs in WNE's 31-23 win over Westfield State on Saturday

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (September 9, 2018) – Junior quarterback Alec Coleman (Arlington, Mass.) of the Western New England University football team has been named the Commonwealth Coast Football Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced on Sunday morning.

Coleman led five scoring drives in Western New England's 31-23 victory over Westfield State University in the 30th Presidents' Cup Game on Saturday at Golden Bear Stadium. The win marked Western New England's fifth straight against the Owls, and the Golden Bears now lead the all-time series 16-14.

Coleman completed 18-of-27 (66%) pass attempts for 179 yards with three touchdowns and one interception. He also picked up 19 yards on the ground and finished just shy of 200 yards of total offense (198) for the day.  

Through the first two starts of his collegiate career, Coleman has gone 40-of-67 (59.7%) through the air for 383 yards with four touchdowns and one interception.

A 2016 graduate of Arlington High School, Coleman played football, hockey and baseball for the Spy Ponders.  

Western New England (1-1) travels to Bangor, Maine next Saturday for a non-conference matchup at Husson University.
