Cummings & Labrie Named to All-CCC Third Team

CCC Release

Golden Bears open CCC Tournament on Saturday at Wentworth

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (October 27, 2016) – Two members of the Western New England University women's soccer team were recognized when the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) announced its major award winners and All-Conference selections this afternoon.

Senior defender Katelyn Cummings (Feeding Hills, Mass.) and senior forward Brooke Labrie (Granby, Mass.) were both named to the All-CCC third team for their efforts this season.

Cummings, a team captain, earns her second consecutive All-CCC third team selection after collecting honorable mention recognition in both 2013 and 2014. She has started all 19 of Western New England's matches this season, compiling five assists while helping to anchor the Golden Bear defense.

Cummings, a psychology major, has started 70 of the 78 matches that she has appeared in over the course of her four-year career, totaling 17 points on three goals and 11 assists.

Labrie joins Cummings on the All-CCC third team after serving as one of Western New England's top offensive threats this season. She has appeared in all 19 matches, making 18 starts, and is tied for the team lead with ten points on four goals and two assists. Her 17 shots on goal are also the most on the team. Two of Labrie's four goals have been game-winners, including a clutch, 87th minute strike in the Golden Bears' 2-1 win over Eastern Nazarene on September 17.

Since joining the Western New England women's soccer program for the 2015 campaign, Labrie has started 34 of the 38 matches she has played in, racking up 22 points with nine goals and four assists.

The seventh-seeded Golden Bears (6-10-3, 3-5-1 CCC) will be on the road at No. 2 seed Wentworth (12-3-3, 7-0-2 CCC) on Saturday at 3 p.m. for the quarterfinal round of the CCC Tournament.
