Western New England blanks Nichols 5-0 in Commonwealth Coast Conference game

SPRINGFIELD, MA - Allison Jackson scored two goals early in the second half as Western New England broke open a close contest with a 5-0 victory over visiting Nichols in a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) field hockey game Friday evening (Oct. 2).

The Golden Bears, who broke a two-game road skid, led 1-0 lead at halftime when Lauren Palmateer scored just 3:20 into the game with an assist from Brittany DeLima.

Jackson then netted both her goals in a 2:56 span to open up a 3-0 advantage at the 45:10 mark. Michelle Carlson had the assists on both scores.

Emily Antinozzi (from DeLima) scored at 56:40 and Samantha Krumpholz tallied the final goal (from Katherine Ferrari) at 67:18.

Grace Trupe made the save on the only shot she faced during the game.

Katherine Cotton made three saves and allowed three goals in 50 minutes, 27 seconds for the Bison.

Western New England is now 5-4 overall and 2-3 in the CCC. Nichols has a 1-8 mark and 0-5 conference showing.
