Brittany DeLima, Allison Jackson Earn All-CCC Field Hockey Accolades

CCC Field Hockey All-Conference Release

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (November 4, 2015) -
Sophomore forwards Brittany DeLima (Branchville, N.J.) and Allison Jackson (Mahopac, N.Y.) of the Western New England University field hockey team have both been named to the All-Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) second team for their efforts this season, the league office announced yesterday.

DeLima and Jackson accounted for 17 of Western New England's 39 goals (44%) this fall as the Golden Bears went 8-10 overall (5-7 CCC), the highest win total for the program since 2010. DeLima finished with a team-high 23 points (T-8th CCC) on nine goals and five assists, while Jackson was the squad's second leading scorer with 18 points (T-13th in CCC) on eight goals and two assists.

DeLima made an immediate impact for the field hockey program as a freshman in 2014, starting all 19 games and racking up a team-high 20 points on eight goals and four assists. Her success continued this fall, as she was a key member of the Western New England offense and one of the top overall players in the conference.

The Branchville, N.J. native opened her 2015 campaign in impressive fashion, potting a pair of goals as the Golden Bears cruised to a 7-1 win over Wheelock College on September 1st. She followed that up with another goal in her next game, a 4-3 win against Westfield State University (9/9), but did not register another point after that until September 30th, when she tallied an assist in a 7-2 setback at Endicott College.

DeLima then went on a tear over the second half of the season, dishing out two more assists in a 5-0 win over Nichols (Oct. 2nd), before scoring both of Western New England's goals in a 2-0 shutout of Gordon College (Oct. 14th). Two games later, she turned in a season-high five points (two goals, one assist), powering the Golden Bears to a 5-0 triumph at Nichols. DeLima scored her eighth goal of the season at Mount Holyoke (Oct. 22nd), and capped her season last Friday with a goal in Western New England's 3-0 win over Roger Williams University.

Jackson also started every game for the Golden Bears for the second straight season and was a key contributor on offense. She powered Western New England to a 3-0 start with eight points over the first three games of the season, including a five-point effort against Westfield State. Jackson also scored against Gordon (Sept. 22) and potted two goals against Nichols (Oct. 2nd). Her last two goals of the season came in consecutive contests, a 2-1 setback to the University of New England (Oct. 17th) and a 5-0 victory at Nichols (Oct. 20th).

The Mahopac, N.Y. native started all 19 games as a freshman in 2014, contributing immediately with 13 points (5th on team) on four goals and five assists.
