Western New England Opens 2017-18 Season at CCC Invitational

Elliott & Mangiaratti post New England Championship "A" cut times

BRISTOL, R.I. (October 21, 2017) –
The Western New England University women's swimming team opened its 2017-18 season at the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Invitational on Saturday at Roger Williams University's Aquatics Center. 

Western New England finished seventh in the seven-team field with 17 points. Roger Williams won the team title with 257 points in the 24-event meet, while UMass Dartmouth (55) and Regis (55) tied for second and Clark University (48) and the University of New England (45) rounded out the top five.

Top Performers
• Sophomore Emily Elliott (Cortland, N.Y.) was among two Golden Bears to post New England Championship "A" cut times, as she finished 18th of 30 swimmers in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:34.32. In the 100-yard breaststroke, Elliott registered a "B" cut time (1:20.07) and placed 13th.
• Making her collegiate debut, freshman Lauren Mangiaratti (Ashland, Mass.) turned in an "A" cut effort in the 100-breaststroke, placing sixth and earning a time of 1:16.92. Mangiaratti also registered a "B" cut time in the 200-yard individual medley (2:37.99), where she finished 25th.
• Senior Erika Sheinhait (Framingham, Mass.) posted a pair of strong performances in the 50 (27.89) and 100-yard freestyle (1:02.14), both of which qualify as "B" cut times.
