Golden Bears Set Program Records at NEISDA Championships

Western New England in 11th place after day three

KINGSTON, R.I. (February 17, 2018) –
The Western New England University swimming team has set two program records through the first three days of the New England Intercollegiate Swimming & Diving Association (NEISDA) Championships at Tootell Aquatic Center on the campus of the University of Rhode Island. 

On Friday, sophomore Kayla Snider (Leesburg, Va.) turned in a school-record performance in the 200-yard individual medley, as she finished ninth with a time of 2:20.00.

Snider also competed in the 100-yard butterfly along with senior Erika Sheinhait (Framingham, Mass.). Sheinhait placed tenth in 1:01.69, and Snider followed in 15th with a time of 1:04.00.

Additionally, Western New England's 200-yard freestyle relay team of Sheinhait, freshman Lauren Mangiaratti (Ashland, Mass.), senior Jacquelyn Peterson (Beverly, Mass.) and sophomore Emily Elliott (Cortland, N.Y.) placed 13th and clocked in at 1:48.35.

Saturday's action was highlighted by the Golden Bears' 200-yard medley relay team of Snider, Mangiaratti, Sheinhait and senior Janelle Lief (San Jose, Calif.), which broke a 13-year old program record with a time of 1:59.00.

Sheinhait also posted a strong individual performance on Saturday with her fourth-place finish in the 50-yard butterfly, which she swam in 27.38 seconds.

As a team, Western New England sits in 11th place in the 20-team field through three days with a score of 218.

The Golden Bears will wrap up their 2017-18 campaign with the final day of the NEISDA Championships tomorrow.
