Western New England Places 11th at NEISDA Championships

Snider & Sheinhait earn All-New England honors in 100-yard IM

KINGSTON, R.I. (February 18, 2018) –
The Western New England University swimming team finished 11th in the 20-team field over the weekend at the New England Intercollegiate Swimming & Diving Association (NEISDA) Championships, hosted by the University of Rhode Island at Tootell Aquatic Center. 

The Golden Bears earned a team score of 350 on their way to 11th place. Simmons College won the team title with a score of 1504, while Roger Williams (1465) and Keene State (1083.5) placed second and third, respectively.

Sophomore Kayla Snider (Leesburg, Va.) and senior Erika Sheinhait (Framingham, Mass.) led Western New England on Sunday, as both swimmers earned All-New England honors in the 100-yard individual medley. Snider placed seventh in 1:04.71, while Sheinhait followed in eighth with a time of 1:04.86. Earlier in the day, Snider set her third school record of the weekend in the 100-IM prelims (1:03.41).

Freshman Lauren Mangiaratti (Ashland, Mass.) finished 16th in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:43.62), while senior Jacquelyn Peterson (Beverly, Mass.) turned in a 17th place effort in the 1650-yard freestyle, clocking in at 20:01.51.

Western New England's 400-yard freestyle relay team of Sheinhait, Peterson, Snider and sophomore Emily Elliott (Cortland, N.Y.) registered a 13th place finish and earned a time of 3:56.44.
