Kayla Snider Named NEISDA Swimmer of the Week
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (January 18, 2018) – Sophomore Kayla Snider (Leesburg, Va.) of the Western New England University swimming team has been named the New England Intercollegiate Swimming & Division Association (NEISDA) Swimmer of the Week, the organization announced on Wednesday.
In last Monday's home opener against Babson, Snider registered a first place finish in the 50- yard backstroke (30.87 seconds) and broke Emily Alland's 20-year old school record in the 200-individual medley (2:23.30), finishing second in the event. Snider also turned in a runner-up effort in the 100-backstroke (1:07.11).
On Wednesday at Elms, Snider was victorious in two individual events, as she placed first in the 50-meter backstroke (33.87 seconds) and the 100-meter backstroke (1:16.38) while setting a program record in the 200-individual medley (2:41.92). Snider was also a part of Western New England's 200-medley relay team that established a new record with a time of 2:13.93.
The Golden Bears return to action on Saturday at noon, as they travel to Maine to take on Saint Joseph's and Simmons.
