Golden Bears Fall to Babson in Home Opener, 152-108

Mangiaratti leads Western New England with two event wins, Snider breaks school record in 200-IM

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (January 8, 2018) – The Western New England University women's swimming team fell to Babson College, 152-108, in its home opener on Monday evening at the Alumni Healthful Living Center.

Top Performers
• Freshman Lauren Mangiaratti (Ashland, Mass.) led the way for the Golden Bears, accounting for two of Western New England's three event wins. Mangiaratti placed first in both the 50-yard breaststroke (35.07 seconds) and 100-breaststroke (1:16.36).
• Sophomore Kayla Snider (Leesburg, Va.) also registered a first place finish in the 50-backstroke (30.87 seconds) and broke Emily Alland's 20-year old school record in the 200-individual medley (2:23.30), finishing second in the event. Snider also turned in a runner-up effort in the 100-backstroke (1:07.11).
• Senior Janelle Lief (San Jose, Calif.) finished second in the 50-butterly (30.77 seconds) and 100-butterfly (1:04.01, NEISDA A Cut).
• Senior Erika Sheinhait (Framingham, Mass.) posted a trio of top-three performances, with second place efforts in the 50-freestyle (26.88 seconds) and 200-freestyle (2:13.10, NEISDA B Cut) as well as a third place showing in the 100-freestyle (59.12 seconds, NEISDA A Cut). All three of Sheinhait's times were her fastest this season.
• Sophomore Emily Elliott (Cortland, N.Y.) finished second in the 100-breaststroke (1:18.66, NEISDA A Cut) and also swam her fastest time of the season in the 50-breaststroke (36.32 seconds), placing fourth overall.
