Western New England Drops 7-2 Decision to Roger Williams

Lauren Sell, Morgan Schrader post 9-7 win at No. 2 doubles

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (September 10, 2016) – The Western New England University women's tennis team dropped a 7-2 decision to Roger Williams University this afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at the Volvo Outdoor Courts.

Top Performers
• Junior Lauren Sell (Milford, Conn.) and freshman Morgan Schrader (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) teamed up for a 9-7 win at No. 2 doubles, defeating Harley Kaiserman/Ali Stankiewicz. Schrader also contributed Western New England's lone point in singles play, posting a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Gabrielle Riley at No. 5.

Match Review
• Roger Williams opened up a 2-1 lead after doubles play, as Julia Akerman/Kathryn Hughes defeated senior captain Joeanna Glantz (Agawam, Mass.) and junior Christina D'Agostino (Bohemia, N.Y.) 8-0 at No. 1, and Allie Grinavic/Riley topped juniors Jessica Breitweg (Bohemia, N.Y.) and Kim Phu (Wolfeboro, N.H.) 8-1 at No. 3.
• The Hawks were victorious in five of the six singles flights, with Schrader providing the only win for Western New England.

Western New England (2-1, 1-1 CCC) will be back in action next Saturday at Eastern Nazarene, while Roger Williams (2-1, 1-0 CCC) returns home to host Suffolk on Monday.
