Western New England Improves to 3-1 with 8-1 Triumph at Eastern Nazarene

Golden Bears sweep through singles play after taking two of three doubles matches

QUINCY, Mass. (September 17, 2016) – The Western New England University women's tennis team rolled to an 8-1 victory at Eastern Nazarene College this afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at the ENC Tennis Courts.

Top Performers
• Senior captain Corey St. Louis (Groton, Conn.) and juniors Jessica Breitweg (Bohemia, N.Y.) and Lauren Sell (Milford, Conn.) all picked up wins in both singles and doubles action, leading the way for the Golden Bears.

• Sophomore Adele Duval and junior Lindsey Steelman were responsible for Eastern Nazarene's only win of the day with their 8-6 result over senior captain Joeanna Glantz (Agawam, Mass.) and junior Christina D'Agostino (Bohemia, N.Y.) at No. 1 doubles.

Match Review
• Western New England took two of the three doubles matches, as Sell and St. Louis posted an 8-1 win over Jordan Cressman/Veronica Jiminez at No. 2, and Breitweg teamed up with classmate Kim Phu (Wolfeboro, N.H.) for an 8-3 victory at No. 3.
• The Golden Bears proceeded to roll through singles with six wins. Sell beat Duval at No. 1, 6-4, 6-2, and Glantz earned a 6-1, 6-4 decision over Steelman at No. 2.
• D'Agostino, Breitweg, St. Louis and sophomore Petra Martinelli (Vernon, Conn.) were all victorious as well.

Western New England (3-1, 3-1 CCC) hosts Salve Regina on Thursday, while Eastern Nazarene (2-6, 0-4 CCC) returns to action against Curry on Friday.
