Golden Bears Dealt 7-1 Setback at Endicott

Freshman Morgan Schrader produces Western New England's lone win with 6-2, 6-4 result at No. 4 singles  

BEVERLY, Mass. (September 28, 2016) – The Western New England University women's tennis team was dealt a 7-1 setback at Endicott College this afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action.

Top Performers
• Freshman Morgan Schrader (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) produced Western New England's lone win of the match with her 6-2, 6-4 victory over Margot Andreasen at No. 4 singles. Schrader and junior Lauren Sell (Milford, Conn.) also came up just short at No. 2 doubles, falling to Hayley Barnett and Anderson, 9-7.

Match Review
• After opening up a 3-0 lead through doubles play, Barnett got the Gulls off to a strong start in singles action with her 6-1, 6-0 win over Sell at No. 1.
• Maxine Bergstein sealed the triumph for Endicott with her 6-1, 6-1 win over sophomore Petra Martinelli (Vernon, Conn.) at No. 6 singles.
• Junior Jessica Breitweg (Bohemia, N.Y.) fell to Gillian Freter, 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5, and junior Christina D'Agostino (Bohemia, N.Y.) dropped a 6-3, 6-1 decision to Lauren Rahr at No. 3, while senior captain Joeanna Glantz's (Agawam, Mass.) No. 2 singles match with Reilly Fitzgibbons was not completed.
