Western New England Falls to Endicott, 8-1

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (September 27, 2017) – The Western New England University women's tennis team suffered an 8-1 setback to Endicott College on Wednesday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at the Volvo Outdoor Courts.

Top Performers
• Sophomore Morgan Schrader (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) posted the lone win of the match for the Golden Bears at No. 2 singles.

• Junior Hayley Barnett (Marlboro, N.J.) led the Gulls with victories at both No. 1 singles and No. 2 doubles.

Match Review
• Endicott established a 3-0 lead with wins at all three doubles flights, including Barnett and junior Reilly Fitzgibbons' (Killingworth, Conn.) 8-2 victory over freshman Maylene LaPress (Bedford, N.H.) and junior Petra Martinelli (Vernon, Conn.).
• The Gulls took five of six matches in singles play, with Schrader providing Western New England's only point of the match at No. 2. Schrader outlasted freshman Gretta Hartman (Glastonbury, Conn.), 6-3, 3-6, 11-9.

Both teams will be back in action on Saturday, as Western New England (2-5, 1-4 CCC) travels to Salve Regina and Endicott (7-1, 5-1 CCC) returns home to host Curry.
