Golden Bears Earn 5-1 CCC Victory at Salve Regina

Bauer clinches win with 6-2, 6-1 result at No. 4 singles

NEWPORT, R.I. (September 30, 2017) –
The Western New England University women's tennis team earned a 5-1 victory over Salve Regina University on Saturday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play at the International Tennis Hall of Fame.    

Top Performers
• Sophomore Rachel Bauer (Palmer, Mass.) clinched the win for the Golden Bears with her 6-2, 6-1 triumph over Darcy Carlin at No. 4 singles.
• Sophomore Morgan Schrader (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) was victorious at both No. 1 doubles and No. 2 singles.

Match Review
• Western New England led 2-1 after doubles play as Schrader and senior Christina D'Agostino (Bohemia, N.Y.) defeated Laura Krick/Erin Stangel 8-3 at No. 1, and Bauer teamed up with senior Kim Phu (Wolfeboro, N.H.) for an 8-2 win at No. 3.
• Schrader and D'Agostino came out on top at No. 2 and No. 3, singles, respectively, before Bauer sealed Western New England's victory at No. 4.

Western New England (3-5, 2-4 CCC) will be right back in action tomorrow against Wentworth at Regis College, while Salve Regina (2-7, 1-6 CCC) travels to Eastern Nazarene on Tuesday.
