Western New England College all square at the Williams Invitational

Katharina Boes makes All-Tournament Team

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - The Western New England College women's volleyball team lost to SUNY Oneonta 3-1 and defeated Hamilton 3-0 in the final day of competition at the Williams Invitational Saturday (Oct. 4).

The Golden Bears dropped their opener by the scores of 26-24, 25-18, 18-25, and 25-20 before bouncing back to take the second match 25-22, 29-27, and 25-23.

In the opening match, freshman outside hitter Caroline Bitters (Greenfield, MA) had eight kills and 14 digs while sophomore middle blocker Lauren Landri (New Canaan, CT) added eight kills and three blocks.

Sophomore settere Katharina Boes (Buffalo Grove, IL) contributed 26 assists and nine digs.

Boes also had a strong match against Hamilton finishing with 19 assists and was selected to the All-Tournament Team.

Junior outside hitter Rachel Cervone (West Springfield, MA) had eight kills and 12 digs.

Freshman middle blocker Inna Sergechik (West Springfield, MA) had her best match of the season with eight kills and nine digs.

Western New England College has an 8-9 record after finishing with a 2-2 mark in the two-day tournament.
