WNEC freshman Caroline Bitters named Rookie-of-the-Week in conference

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) selected Western New England College freshman Caroline Bitters (Greenfield, MA) as its Rookie-of-the-Week on Monday (Nov. 3).

This is the second time Bitters has earned the award this season.

An outside hitter, Bitters compiled a .276 hitting percentage with 19 kills and 20 digs in a 3-0 week.

She had 10 digs and six kills in a 3-1 win over Emerson, eight digs and seven kills ina 3-0 win over Wentworth, and six kills with a pair of digs in a 3-0 victory over Salve Regina.

Bitters is a Sport Mnagement major.

Western New England College (16-16) will visit the University of New England (17-13) at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday (Nov. 4) in a quarterfinal round match of the conference tournament.

The Golden Bears posted a 5-5 mark in league action to finish in sixth place. The Nor'easters tied for second (with Colby-Sawyer) with an 8-2 record and gained the third seed in the tournament.
