Western New England College roars past Emerson Lions

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Western New England College women's volleyball team won its third straight match with a 3-1 decision over Emerson Thursday (Oct. 30) during "Senior Night" at the Alumni Healthful Living Center.

Before the contest, the College honored and thanked seniors Keri Ecker (New Providence, NJ) and Sarah Wainwright (Gilford, NH) for their contributions to the program.

The Golden Bears then roared past the Lions by the scores of 25-17, 21-25, 26-24, and 25-22.

WNEC junior outside hitter Rachel Cervone (West Springfield, MA) led the way with 17 kills and 17 digs.

Sophomore setter Katharina Boes (Buffalo Grove, IL) contributed 40 assists, nine digs, and five blocks.

Freshman outside hitter Caroline Bitters (Greenfield, MA) chipped in with six kills and 15 digs.

Wainright and Ecker also played key roles in the victory with 15 and 10 digs, respectively.

Sophomore right side hitter Lauren Zaniboni (San Diego, CA) led the visitors with 23 kills while sophomore setter Jilisa Rawding (Tewksbury, MA) had 39 assists.

Western New England College inched closer to the .500 mark at 14-16 while Emerson drops to 18-10.
