Colby-Sawyer posts victory over Western New England College in TCCC semifinals

NEW LONDON, N.H. - The Western New England College women's volleyball team gave it a great effort, but Colby-Sawyer had a little more firepower in posting a 3-0 victory Thursday night (Nov. 6) in a semifinal match of The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) Tournament.

The game scores were close with the Chargers prevailing 25-17, 25-22, and 25-21.

Junior outside hitter Rachel Cervone (West Springfield, MA) led the Golden Bears with 11 kills and 14 digs.

Sophomore setter Katharina Boes (Buffalo Grove, IL) added 28 assists and 15 digs while freshman outside hitter Caroline Bitters (Greenfield, MA) contributed five kills and 10 digs.

Colby-Sawyer freshman middle blocker Nicole Duarte (Windham, NH) had a game-high 14 kills. Senior middle blocker Kristen Romanko (Mansfield, MA) totaled 10 kills.

Also for the Chargers, junior outside hitter Meg White (Monroe, CT) had 17 digs while junior setter Genny Moore (Centerville, MA) had 40 assists.

Western New England College, seeded sixth in the tournament, finished its season with a 17-17 record.

Colby-Sawyer, the second seed, improves to 23-11 and plays in the championship match on Saturday (Nov. 8).
