Western New England College senior Rachel Cervone named TCCC Player-of-the-Week

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- Western New England College senior outside hitter Rachel Cervone (West Springfield, MA) was named The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) Women's Volleyball Player-of-the-Week on Monday (Oct. 26).

Cervone registered 17 kills (including the 1,000th of her career) and 18 digs for her 10th double-double of the season in a 3-0 victory over Colby-Sawyer, which was the Chargers' first conference loss of the season. 

She made only one attack error in 32 total swings for an impressive .500 hitting percentage, and contributed four service aces and three blocks.

A team captain, Cervone is a Business Management major.

Western New England College (21-8) is tied for second in the league with Endicott at 6-1, a half game behind Colby-Sawyer who is 7-1.

The Golden Bears visit Eastern Nazarene on Wednesday and wrap up the regular season against host Wentworth and Regis on Saturday (Oct. 31).
