Western New England College tops Endicott in ECAC Division III New England Tournament

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Fourth-seeded Western New England College posted a 3-1 victory over fifth-seeded Endicott in a quarterfinal round match of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Women's Volleyball Championship Wednesday evening (Nov. 11).

The game scores were 25-16, 20-25, 25-13, and 25-10.

The Golden Bears (27-9) will meet top-seeded Plymouth State (a 3-0 winner over eighth-seeded Emmanuel) in a semifinal match at noon Saturday (Nov. 14) in Plymouth, New Hampshire.

Junior middle blocker Lauren Landri (New Canaan, CT) led the hosts with 16 kills while senior outside hitter Rachel Cervone (West Springfield, MA) added 11 kills and three blocks.

Junior libero Marci Egbert (Wayne, NJ) recorded 17 digs with two service aces.

Junior setter Katharina Boes (Buffalo Grove, IL) chipped-in with 38 assists, seven digs, and five blocks.

Junior outside hitter Samantha Shomo (Glen Gardner, NJ) had eight kills and nine digs.

WNEC avenged an earlier 3-2 loss to Endicott on September 19 in their regular season meeting as members of The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC).

Senior outside hitter Steph Wiese (Higganum, CT) played well in her final match for Endicott compiling nine kills with 12 digs and a service ace.

Sophomore right side hitter Elyse Barbour (Greenville, RI) contributed nine kills and three blocks (one solo).

Junior setter Ally Murphy (Gilford, NH) added 19 assists for the Gulls who finished their season with a 19-17 record.
