Willis Picks Up Second Rookie of the Week Accolades

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (March 21, 2022) – Western New England first baseman CJ Willis has picked up his second Rookie of the Week honors as announced today by the Commonwealth Coast Conference. 

Willis competed in all six games for the Golden Bears on their 2022 spring break trip, coming up with nine hits in 24 at bats. Willis went 3-4 with a double and a run scored to go along with an RBI in a 6-5 win over Stockton University. In the final two games of the spring break trip, Willis would connect for two home runs, one against Rutgers-Camden, the other coming in a 7-4 win over TCNJ where Willis went 3-5 at the plate, collecting two RBIs. 

On the season, Willis has slashed .387 at the plate, collecting four home runs and 11 RBIs. Willis has scored seven runs and stole a base in eight games played this season. 

The Golden Bears are back in action on Wednesday, March 23 at 2:30 pm for a road contest with Clark University. WNE opens their 2022 season at home on Friday, March 25 at 3:30 pm vs. Westfield State University.
