Western New England Drops CCC Match to Roger Williams, 6-3

Kalmer & Kohut post 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (April 7, 2018) –
The Western New England University men's tennis team had its four-match winning streak snapped with a 6-3 loss to Roger Williams University on Saturday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at the Volvo Outdoor Courts. 

Western New England's No. 1 doubles duo of sophomore David Kalmer (Slingerlands, N.Y.) and junior Justin Kohut (South Windsor, Conn.) defeated Grant Rosenberg and Nick Spoor 8-3, but the Hawks captured the second and third doubles flights to claim a 2-1 lead in the match.

Kalmer was also victorious at the top of the Golden Bears' singles lineup, as he registered a 6-4, 6-2 triumph over Brendan White to improve to 7-1 this season.

Western New England's other point came courtesy of sophomore Griffin Arnold (Meriden, Conn.), who won 6-1, 7-6 (7-4) over Matty Feldman at No. 6.
