Golden Bears Dealt 7-2 Setback at Endicott

Kalmer & Gordon post singles wins for Western New England

BEVERLY, Mass. (April 14, 2018) –
The Western New England University men's tennis team suffered a 7-2 setback at Endicott College on Saturday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at the South Campus Courts. 

Sophomore David Kalmer (Slingerlands, N.Y.) and freshman Max Gordon (Middleton, Mass.) accounted for Western New England's only two wins in the match.

Kalmer improved to 10-1 at No. 1 singles this season with his 7-6 (7-4), 6-4 triumph over Chris Kirkpatrick at the top flight.

Gordon picked up a 6-4, 2-6, 10-8 win over Charles Book in the third singles slot, in the process improving his record to 8-3 during his first collegiate campaign this spring.

Both teams are scheduled to return to action on Wednesday, as Western New England (7-4, 2-3 CCC) heads home to host Gordon, and Endicott (8-6, 3-2 CCC) remains in Beverly to take on Eastern Nazarene.
