Western New England Drops Dual Meet to Gordon, 131-106

Sheinhait leads Western New England with two event wins

WENHAM, Mass. (November 13, 2016) – The Western New England University women's swimming team dropped a 131-106 dual meet decision to Gordon College yesterday at the Bennett Aquatic Center.

Gordon won nine of the 14 events, including two each by Alexa Bragg, Caris Lyons and Amber Collard.

Top Performers
• Junior Erika Sheinhait (Framingham, Mass.) led the Golden Bears with a pair of event wins, finishing first in both the 500-yard freestyle (6:05.12) and 100-individual medley with a time of 1:08.79, her fastest time of the season in the event. Sheinhait also anchored Western New England's win in the 200-freestyle relay (1:52.98), posting a season-best time in her 50-freestyle leg.
• Junior Jacquelyn Peterson (Beverly, Mass.) improved on her best time in the 1000-freestyle by five seconds (12:32.82), making a B cut for the New England Championships, while also dropping five seconds from her top effort in the 500-freestyle (6:07.38). Peterson finished second and third in the two events, respectively.
• Junior Janelle Lief (San Jose, Calif.) turned in her best time of the season in the 50-butterfly (30.39 seconds) on her way to second place.
• Sophomore Anna Boucher (Merrimack, N.H.) registered season-best times in both the 50 (38.80 seconds) and 100 (1:22.54) breaststrokes.
• Freshman Brittany Bosma (North Port, Fla.) accounted for one of Western New England's wins, as she took first in the 50-freestyle (27.70 seconds), while junior Ali Johnstone (Southwick, Mass.) beat out Boucher by less than a second in the 100-breaststroke (1:22.06).
