Golden Bears Split with Simmons & St. Joe’s

Sheinhait leads Western New England with two second place finishes

BOSTON, Mass. (January 21, 2017) – The Western New England University women's swimming team split with Simmons College and St. Joseph's College of Maine earlier today. The Golden Bears fell to Simmons, 210-65, before defeating St. Joseph's, 151-99.

Top Performers
• Junior Erika Sheinhait (Framingham, Mass.) led the way for Western New England with a pair of second place finishes in the 100-yard freestyle (1:00.05) and the 50-yard butterfly (28.75 seconds). Sheinhait also registered a third place effort in the 200-freestyle with a time of 2:12.44.
• Junior Janelle Lief (San Jose, Calif.) finished third in the 200-yard butterfly (2:46.46) and fourth in the 200-freestyle (31.17 seconds).
• Junior Jacquelyn Peterson (Beverly, Mass.) placed third in the mixed 1650-yard freestyle (21:20.50) and was also Western New England's top finisher in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:53.86.

Western New England's lone event win of the day came in the 200-yard freestyle relay, as Sheinhait, Peterson and freshmen Emily Elliott (Cortland, N.Y.) and Brittany Bosma (North Port, Fla.) turned in a time of 1:48.99.
