Golden Bears Remain in 14th Place After Day Two of NEISDA Championships

Sheinhait posts fourth place finish in 50-yard butterfly

KINGSTON, R.I. (February 19, 2017) – The Western New England University women's swimming team remains in 14th place after day two of the New England Intercollegiate Swimming & Diving Association (NEISDA) Championships at the University of Rhode Island's Tootell Aquatics Center.

Western New England, which had 134.5 points entering Saturday's action, compiled 57 points on the day and has now totaled 191.5 heading into Sunday.

Top Performers
• Junior Erika Sheinhait (Framingham, Mass.) highlighted the day for the Golden Bears with a fourth-place finish in the 50-yard butterfly finals. Sheinhait posted a time of 27.41 seconds after clocking in at 27.99 seconds in the prelims.
• Freshman Emily Elliott (Cortland, N.Y.) swam a personal best time of 1:16.00 in the 100-yard breaststroke prelims, placing 24th overall.
• Junior Janelle Lief (San Jose, Calif.) and freshman Brittany Bosma (North Port, Fla.) also competed in the 50-yard butterfly prelims, finishing 23rd and 35th with season best times of 29.81 seconds and 31.47 seconds, respectively.
• Junior Jacquelyn Peterson (Beverly, Mass.) improved her season best time in the 400-yard individual medley by four seconds, finishing 21st in the prelims with a time of 5:27.36.
• Western New England's 200-yard medley relay team of Lief, Bosma, junior Ali Johnstone (Southwick, Mass.), sophomore Megan Empie (Delmar, N.Y.) placed 16th in the prelims with a time of 2:03.48.
