Golden Bears in 14th After Day One of NEISDA Championships

KINGSTON, R.I. (February 17, 2017) – The Western New England University women's swimming team sits in 14th place after day one of the New England Intercollegiate Swimming & Diving Association (NEISDA) Championships, hosted by the University of Rhode Island at Tootell Aquatics Center.

The Golden Bears compiled 134.5 points on their way to 14th place today. Roger Williams is leading the way with 606 points, while Simmons (526) and Keene State (488) are in second and third, respectively.

Junior Erika Sheinhait (Framingham, Mass.) turned in a ninth-place performance in the 100-yard butterfly, clocking in with a time of 1:01.73 after posting a mark of 1:02.63 in the prelims.

Freshman Emily Elliott (Cortland, N.Y.) finished 16th in the 200-yard individual medley, earning a time of 2:26.46 in the final.

Western New England's 200-yard freestyle relay team of Sheinhait, junior Jacquelyn Peterson (Beverly, Mass.), sophomore Megan Empie (Delmar, N.Y.) and freshman Brittany Bosma (North Port, Fla.) registered a 14th-place effort in 1:49.63, while the 400-yard medley relay squad of Empie, Sheinhait, Peterson and junior Ali Johnstone (Southwick, Mass.) placed 12th in 4:32.51.
