Men’s Ice Hockey Drops Non-Conference Contest to Anna Maria, 2-0

WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (January 2, 2020) – The Western New England University men's ice hockey team fell to Anna Maria College, 2-0, on Friday afternoon in non-conference action at the Olympia Ice Center.

Top Performers
Anna Maria was led by sophomore forwards Gavin Proeh (Highland Park, Ill.) and Patrick Manning (Messana, N.Y.), with each scoring one goal.

Sophomores Jack Sitzman (Redondo Beach, Calif.) and Sam Cyr-Ledoux (Montreal, Canada) each provided an assist.

Game Review
The score was even at 0-0 until late in the second period when Proeh found the breakthrough to give the Amcats the 1-0 lead. Sitzman took the initial shot that was saved by Golden Bear goaltender Kyle Carducci (Rocky Hill, Conn.), but the rebound fell to Proeh right in front of the net for a tap in goal to give Anna Maria a 1-0 lead.

With just under a minute remaining in the game, the Golden Bears pulled Carducci to have a 6-on-5 advantage looking to score the game-tying goal. The Amcats took advantage when Manning scored an empty net goal with just 0:31 left to go to give Anna Maria the 2-0 victory.
