Men’s Ice Hockey Falls at Home to #10 University of New England

WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (February 14, 2020) – The Western New England University men's ice hockey team fell to University of New England, 10-4, in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action on Friday evening at the Olympia Ice Center.

Top Performers
The Nor'easters received goals from nine different players, including two goals from senior Ryan Bloom (Northville, Mich.).

The Golden Bears received goals from three different players, including two from senior Corey Kennedy (Clemmons, N.C.).

Game Review
University of New England opened the scoring midway through the first period when sophomore Liam Darcy (Waterboro, Maine) found the back of the net for a short-handed goal. The Nor'easters went on to score four more goals in the period, including two power play goals.

Western New England came out of the intermission and grabbed the first goal of the second period just under a minute in. Kennedy grabbed his first of the evening with junior Nolan Zweep (Abbotsford, B.C.) and freshman Jordan Giacomin (Richmond Hill, Ont.) providing the assists. 

The Nor'easters answered, scoring two of their own before the Golden Bears scored three straight goals to cut the U. of New England lead to 7-4. The Nor'easters responded by grabbing three more goals, including Bloom scoring his second of the game.

Notes
• Sophomore Marko Bohatiuk (Bensalem, Pa.) scored his first goal of the season in the second period.
