Men’s Ice Hockey Falls at Wentworth, 6-2

EVERETT, Mass. (January 18, 2020) – The Western New England University men's ice hockey fell to Wentworth, 6-2, in CCC action at the Allied Veteran's Memorial Rink on Saturday afternoon.

Top Performers
The Leopards were by senior Georgy Gorodetsky (Yekaterinburg, Russia), who scored a hat-trick. Sophomore forward Joey O'Leary (Boston, Mass.) provided three assists.

For the Golden Bears, the goal scorers were freshman defenseman Tyler Pohlig (Broomall, Pa.) and junior forward Nolan Zweep (Abbotsford, B.C.).

Game Review
The Golden Bears struck first, scoring with just over two minutes left in the first period. Pohlig was assisted by freshman Jordan Giacomin (Richmond Hill, Ontario) and senior Dom Blad (Springfield, Mass.)

The Leopards came out strong in the second period, scoring four of their six goals, including two from Gorodetsky. Gorodetsky grabbed his first of the day just under three minutes into the period. The Golden Bears answered by taking the lead back when Zweep found the back of the net off assists from juniors Adam Giacomin (Richmond Hill, Ontario) and Luciano Bucci (Franklin Square, N.Y.).

Wentworth went on to score five unanswered goals, three of which came later in the second period. Scoring the remaining goals for the Leopards were Gorodetsky (2x), Carter Stephenson (West Vancouver, B.C.), Jake McKenelley (Middleton, Mass.), and Guillaume Bose (San Jose, Calif.).

• Wentworth held a 48-35 shot advantage.
• Zweep scored his sixth goal of the season.

Up Next
Western New England (3-10-2) will be off until Friday, when they return home to take on Nichols. Wentworth (6-8-1) will play Curry on Friday evening.
