Price Leads Golden Bears at Williams Open

 

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. (January 5, 2019) – The Western New England University wrestling team competed at the Williams College Open on Saturday at Lasell Gym.

Sophomore Dan Price (Nyack, N.Y.) led the way for the Golden Bears, finishing first at 197 pounds. Price went 3-0 on the day, defeating Kristian Dawes of New England College by fall (1:35) before claiming a 7-5 decision over Castleton's Joseph Galusha to reach the final, where he won by forfeit.

Junior John Boyle (Rowley, Mass.) also had a strong showing with his runner-up finish at 184. Boyle opened the day with an 18-3 technical fall victory over Bennett Caplin of Williams, and he followed that up with another technical fall win (17-0) against SUNY Ulster's Frank Cincotta. Boyle reached the final by pinning Alexander Green of Castleton, before dropping a close 3-2 decision to Jacob Berry of Springfield Technical Community College in the championship bout.
