Golden Bears Compete in NEWA Futures Tournament

Price finishes third in 197-pound weight class

HARTFORD, Conn. (February 17, 2019) – Eight members of the Western New England University wrestling team competed in the New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) Futures Tournament on Sunday at Oosting Gymnasium on the campus of Trinity College.

Sophomore Dan Price (Nyack, N.Y.) led the way for the Golden Bears, finishing third in the 197-pound weight class.

Price went 4-1 on the day, which began with a 15-4 major decision victory over Dylan Schenk of Southern Maine. Price was then pinned by eventual champion Noah Tandy of Roger Williams, before rolling through the loser's bracket and posting a 19-9 major decision triumph over Castleton's Spencer Kozlak in the third place bout.

Junior Taylor Pfaff (Albany, N.Y.) went 3-2 with two wins by fall at 165, while sophomore Asim Waters (Middletown, Conn.) turned in a 2-2 record at 184.
