Arborio Highlights Western New England’s Showing at Will Abele Invitational

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. (January 12, 2019) – The Western New England University wrestling team received strong performances from several individuals on Saturday at the Will Abele Invitational, hosted by Ursinus College at the Floy Lewis Bakes Center Field House.

Sophomore Nick Arborio (Berlin, Conn.) led the way for the Golden Bears, as he captured the 125-pound title for the second consecutive year. Arborio went 3-0 on the day, posting an 18-2 technical fall victory over Josh Roberts of UMBC and a 17-5 major decision win over Matthew Murawski of Scranton, before defeating Michael Savello of SUNY Oneonta with a 14-8 decision in the championship bout.

Junior John Boyle (Rowley, Mass.) finished second at 184 pounds with a 2-1 record. He began the day with a 17-1 technical fall victory over Scranton's' Kiel Pechko, and Boyle followed that up by pinning Anthony Cutrufello of Ursinus at 2:22. In the title bout, Boyle dropped a close 13-10 decision to Aidan Pasiuk of Division II Wheeling Jesuit.

At 197, sophomore Dan Price (Nyack, N.Y.) posted a fourth place finish. Price opened with a win by fall against CJ Ashby of UMBC, but a loss in his next bout sent him to the loser's bracket. Price won his next three contests to reach the third place match, where he fell to Peter Pjetri of SUNY Oneonta.
