Four Golden Bears Receive National & Regional Recognition

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (January 25, 2019) – Four members of the Western New England University wrestling team have received national and regional recognition from d3wrestle.com and the New England Wrestling Association (NEWA), the organizations announced this week.

Junior John Boyle (Rowley, Mass.) and sophomores Ryan Monteiro (Wilbraham, Mass.) and Nick Arborio (Berlin, Conn.) all earned spots in the latest d3wrestle.com national rankings.

Boyle dropped to No. 3, while Monteiro and Arborio climbed to No. 17 and No. 22, respectively.

Boyle, Monteiro and Arborio are also ranked regionally, along with sophomore Justin DeLucia (Holbrook, N.Y.).

Boyle is ranked second at 184 pounds with a 21-5 record and a team-leading nine wins by fall. Monteiro is third at 157 (17-3, five pins), while Arborio and DeLucia are fifth and sixth at 125 and 141, respectively.

Western New England (6-5) hosts Hunter College and Williams College in a tri-match at the Alumni Healthful Living Center on Saturday at 12 p.m.
