Men’s Soccer Defeats MCLA 4-0 for Fourth Consecutive Win

Golden Bears post third straight shutout

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (September 14, 2019) – The Western New England University men's soccer team extended its winning streak to four games with a 4-0 victory over MCLA on Saturday afternoon at Suprenant Field.

Top Performers
Junior Josh Labonte (Ludlow, Mass.), freshman Bryan Atimbo (Chicopee, Mass.) and seniors Corey Brown (Somers, Conn.) and Charlie Argyle (Marshfield, Mass.) all scored for the Golden Bears, while senior goalkeeper Dylan Husted (South Deerfield, Mass.) made two saves in just under 72 minutes of action.

For the visitors, freshman goalkeeper Sam Edge (Williamstown, Mass.) turned aside 15 of the 18 shots that he faced.

Game Review
Western New England struck first in the 38th minute, when Labonte headed home a cross from senior captain Brendan Siegel (Liberty, N.Y.) to make it 1-0.

The Golden Bears doubled their advantage at the 48:32 mark, as Brown snuck a shot past Edge after receiving a pass from senior Brendan Claflin (Burlington, Mass.).

Argyle added to Western New England's lead in the 58th minute, before Atimbo capped the scoring late in the contest on a header off a cross from junior Tyler Lefebvre (Monson, Mass,).
