Bryan Doyle Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Senior defender Bryan Doyle (Southington, Conn.) of the Western New England University men's soccer team has been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Team for the second time in his career.
CoSIDA's Academic All-District Teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. In order to be eligible, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or higher, have reached sophomore academic and athletic standing, and be a significant on-field contributor.
Doyle, an accounting major with a 3.85 cumulative GPA, is a two-time Commonwealth Coast Conference All-Academic selection. He is a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma, Beta Alpha Psi, Beta Gamma Sigma, and Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Societies. Doyle earns CoSIDA Academic All-District honors for the second consecutive season.
The past two years, Doyle has served as a Volunteer Income Tax Assistant with Springfield Partners for Community Action, assisting economically disadvantaged area residents in competing their tax returns. He is also a student member of the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants.
On the field, Doyle served as a team co-captain this season and anchored a Western New England defensive unit that registered 11 shutouts in 20 games. He started all 17 of the matches he appeared in, recording a career-best four points with one goal and two assists.
Doyle capped his career with his third consecutive All-CCC selection, earning first team accolades. He was named to the second team as a junior last season and the third team as a sophomore in 2017. Doyle appeared in 76 contests over the course of his four-year career, making 70 starts.
Doyle is among 11 student-athletes to earn Academic All-District honors from District 1, which includes schools in Massachusetts and Maine. He is one of two representatives from the CCC. With Doyle's selection to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team, he advances to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot. Academic All-America honorees will be announced in early December.
Western New England finished the 2019 campaign with a 12-6-2 record, including a 4-3-1 mark in CCC play that was good for fourth in the league standings. The Golden Bears fell to Nichols College in the first round of the CCC Tournament.
