Men’s Soccer Bounces Back with 3-0 Win over UNE

BIDDEFORD, Maine (October 19, 2019) – The Western New England University men's soccer team snapped its two-game skid with a 3-0 victory over the University of New England on Saturday afternoon in CCC action at Barbara J. Hazard Field.

Top Performers
Western New England's offense was propelled by three different goal scorers as junior forward Matt Remillard (Palmer, Mass.), sophomore forward Macauley Rouette (Monson, Mass.), and senior defender Nick Kubacki (Belchertown, Mass.) all found the back of the net for the Golden Bears.

Freshman goalkeeper Ben Mielnikowski (Feeding Hills, Mass.) recorded two saves in earning the shutout.

Game Review
The Golden Bears struck early to take the lead as Remillard capitalized on a chance in front of the net in the 8th minute.

Western New England added to the lead before halftime in the 41st minute as Rouette finished a one-on-one opportunity with the goalkeeper after receiving a long ball from sophomore Jeremy Obrecht (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) to make it 2-0.

In the 81st minute, Kubacki added the third and final goal for the Golden Bears. Junior Josh Labonte (Ludlow, Mass.) took a corner kick that found sophomore Larsen Keys (Norfolk, Mass.) before eventually falling for Kubacki, who buried his third goal of the season.

• Western New England outshot UNE 12-5.
• The Golden Bears held the advantage in corner kicks, 8-2.
