Men’s Soccer Shuts Out Elms, 3-0

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (October 9, 2019) – The Western New England University men's soccer team defeated Elms College, 3-0, on Wednesday night in non-conference action at Leary Field.

Top Performers
Western New England's offensive performance featured three different goal scorers as sophomore defender Larsen Keys (Norfolk, Mass.), senior midfielder Chris Manousos (Wethersfield, Conn.) and senior forward Charlie Argyle (Plymouth, Mass.) all found the back of the net.

Senior goalkeeper Dylan Husted (South Deerfield, Mass.) posted a two-save shutout behind a defense that surrendered just two shots all night.

Game Review
Western New England nearly opened the scoring on a shot by Manousos that hit the post with 8:48 left in the first half, but the Golden Bears were able to capitalize on the ensuing corner kick as Keys charged into the box and notched his second goal of the season.

Early in the second half, the Golden Bears doubled their lead as Manousos scored on a feed from senior forward Corey Brown (Somers, Conn.) to make it 2-0.

In the 68th minute, senior Brendan Claflin (Burlington, Mass.) set up Argyle for the third and final goal of the contest.

• Western New England dominated the contest with a 17-2 advantage in shots, including a 12-2 edge in shots on goal.
• The Golden Bears have posted eight shutouts this season.
