CCC Release

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Three members of the Western New England University men's soccer team were recognized when the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) announced its major awards and All-CCC selections on Thursday afternoon.

Senior defender Bryan Doyle (Southington, Conn.) was named to the All-CCC first team, while senior forwards Charlie Argyle (Plymouth, Mass.) and Brendan Claflin (Burlington, Mass.) received All-CCC second team honors.

Doyle is now a three-time All-CCC selection after earning third team accolades as a sophomore in 2017 and second team recognition as a junior last season. The Southington, Conn. native started all 16 games that he appeared in this season, anchoring a Western New England defense that registered a CCC-high 11 shutouts. Doyle also contributed offensively with two goals and one assist. His lone goal was the game-winner in Western New England's 2-0 triumph over Trinity on 9/25.

Argyle lands on the All-CCC second team following a strong senior campaign in which he led the Golden Bear attack with a team-high 19 points (seven goals, five assists), a total that ranked fifth in the CCC. Argyle started 16 of the 18 games he appeared in this season, recording at least one point in ten matches.

Claflin joins Argyle on the All-CCC second team after producing 16 points with six goals and four assists during his final collegiate campaign. Claflin was tied for seventh in the CCC with seven points (three goals, one assist) in conference contests. He tallied three game-winning goals in Western New England's victories over Worcester State, Westfield State and Nichols.

Western New England (12-5-2, 4-3-1 CCC) earned the fourth seed in the CCC Tournament, and the Golden Bears will host fifth-seeded Nichols College (11-5-2, 4-3-1 CCC) in the quarterfinal round on Saturday morning at 11 a.m. at Suprenant Field.
