Junior forward Matt Remillard (Palmer, Mass.) scored the lone goal for the Golden Bears off a header, making that his first goal of the 2019 season. Senior forward Charlie Argyle (Marshfield, Mass.) picked up the assist. The Golden Bear defense as a whole played a full game allowing no shots in 90 minutes of play.

For the Raptors, junior keeper Logan Leppo faced seven shots on net and collected six saves.

Game Review

At the 4:52 mark of the first period, Argyle would launch a throw towards the box that Remillard and Leppo would both make a play for. Remillard would corrall the second bounce and head the ball for the first goal of the game, giving Western New England an early lead.

Leppo would face a couple more headers from Remillard and senior midfield Corey Brown (Somers, Conn.) and collect saves on both.

The score remained 1-0 for the remainder of the first period, while the Western New England offense remained aggressive. The Golden Bears fired 11 shots in the period.

In the second period, the Golden Bears would look to extend their lead with shots on goal from junior defender Tyler Lefebvre (Monson, Mass) and senior captain Brendan Siegel (Liberty, N.Y.), but would again be stopped by Leppo.

Western New England was able to lock down the Bard attack and coast through the rest of the second period.

As the final seconds ticked down, Bard would get their first corner of the contest and look to tie the game, but senior goalkeeper Dylan Husted (South Deerfield, Mass.) was able to punch it out and seal the victory for the Golden Bears.

Remillard's goal in the early minutes of the first period would prove to be the game winner.
