Donovan, Boyle Place Fifth in Their Respective Weight Classes at Ithaca Invitational
Western New England finishes tenth in team standings
ITHACA, N.Y. (November 5, 2016) – The Western New England University wrestling team returned to action today with the second day of the Ithaca Invitational, hosted by Ithaca College at the Athletics and Events Center.
Top Performers
• Senior captain Brian Donovan (Manchester, Conn.) placed fifth in the 197-pound bracket. Donovan dropped his quarterfinal bout to Ithaca's Carlos Toribio in a 10-2 major decision, before going 3-1 the rest of the day to take fifth.
• Freshman John Boyle (Rowley, Mass.) also finished fifth in the 184-pound bracket. After getting pinned by Jake Ashcraft of Ithaca in the quarterfinals, he went 3-1 with all three wins coming by decision.
Also in action today were freshmen Austin Roche (Southborough, Mass.) and Taylor Pfaff (Albany, N.Y.), who went 1-1 and 0-1 in their respective brackets.
