Western New England Falls to Castleton, 35-7

Wallace & Donovan post wins for Golden Bears at 149 & 197, respectively

CASTLETON, Vt. (January 27, 2017) – The Western New England University wrestling team fell to Castleton University by a 35-7 score this evening at Glenbrook Gymnasium.

Top Performers
• Junior Lamont Wallace (New Rochelle, N.Y.) posted one of Western New England's two wins with his 11-4 decision over Tyler Raetz at 149 pounds.
• Senior captain Brian Donovan was also victorious at 197, registering a 10-1 major decision over Joey Acerra.

Castleton captured the four bouts of the night, including three by fall, on its way to a 21-0 lead. Wallace got the Golden Bears on the board with his win by decision, but the Spartans proceeded to take the next four bouts to extend their lead to 35-3. Donovan's major decision capped the match and brought the final margin to 35-7.

Western New England will be back in action next Wednesday, when the Golden Bears return home to host the Springfield City Championships, with Springfield College, American International College, and Springfield Technical Community College slated to visit the Alumni Healthful Living Center.
