Golden Bears Finish Third at City of Springfield Championship

Arborio posts 3-0 record at 125 pounds

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (November 11, 2017) –
The Western New England University wrestling team finished third at the City of Springfield Championship on Saturday, as the Golden Bears took on local rivals Springfield College, American International College, and host Springfield Technical Community College. 

Western New England defeated American International College 33-18, but fell to Springfield College (21-13) and STCC (27-19).

Top Performers
• Freshman Nick Arborio (Berlin, Conn.) was the lone Golden Bear to go undefeated on the day with a 3-0 record at 125 pounds.
• Seniors Tim McLinden (Plaistow, N.H.) and Lamont Wallace (New Rochelle, N.Y.) and sophomores Davey Goodall (Chelmsford, Mass.) and John Boyle (Rowley, Mass.) all went 2-1.
• Sophomore Ryan Guers (Orwigsburg, Pa.) picked up his first collegiate win against Ryan Hardy of Springfield College.
