Kristin Decost Recognized as CCC Rookie of the Week Following Saturday’s Game-Winning Goal
Hudson, N.H. native netted first career goal in 1-0 victory over Salve Regina
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (September 25, 2017) – After scoring the game-winning goal in Western New England's 1-0 victory over Salve Regina on Saturday, freshman midfielder Kristin Decost (Hudson, N.H.) has been named the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Rookie of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.
Decost snapped a scoreless tie in the 62nd minute with her first collegiate goal, which kept the Golden Bears undefeated (2-0) in CCC play and pushed them above .500 (4-3-1) for the season.
She has appeared in all eight matches this fall, but did put a shot on target until Saturday's contest.
A 2017 graduate of Alvirne High School, Decost was an All-Conference second team selection and finished her career with 18 goals. She also competed in track & field at Alvirne.
Western New England hosts Smith on Wednesday afternoon in non-conference action, before traveling to Endicott on Saturday.
