Arborio Qualifies for NCAA Division III Championships

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (February 27, 2022) – On the second day of the NCAA Northeast Regional wrestling event, Western New England senior Nick Arborio qualified for the national tournament on March 11 and March 12 after finishing the 125 lb. weight class in second place. The top three places qualify for the national tournament. 

After a successful 2-0 start in day one of the Northeast Regional, Arborio was able to take down Christopher DeRosa of New England College to move into the championship match of the weight class, automatically qualifying Arborio for the national stage in two weeks. Arborio would finish in second place on Sunday, with Justin Lopez of Johnson & Wales University taking home a first-place finish over Arborio in a slim 7-6 decision.

Arborio will travel to Alliant Energy Powerhouse in Cedar Rapids, Iowa for the championships, which will take place on March 11 and March 12.
